With gratitude, we pause a moment to acknowledge…

… that our conference home is on the traditional territories of the Coast Salish peoples here on Vancouver Island who are the custodians of the respective lands and waters, namely the W̱SÁNEĆ, Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations.

These areas have long been the gathering places of the First Nations well before the arrivals of Europeans.  We are grateful for the opportunity to live, work, collaborate, and learn here and we respect the continued connections with the past, present, and future in the ongoing relationships with Indigenous and other peoples in the British Columbia community.

We invite all conference attendees to reflect on the relationships you have to the communities that inhabit this land and share the night sky and wonder.
